NHARA Rule Change

 

Note: The NHARA Board approved the following change in the race cancellation policy at the May meeting.

 

CANCELLATION: If you wish to cancel your entry you must call by 9:00 am 3 days before the race, otherwise, YOUR ENTRY FEE WILL BE KEPT. See page 18 & 19 or NHARA Website “to Cancel Race Entry” for telephone numbers to call. No club will refund the fee if given notice later.

Changes to Published 2007-2008 NHARA Handbook

p. 13 – Attitash SEF:  
Michelle Phillips, Program Director; Head Coach, Larry Nickerson

p. 37 -  Automatics are selected from FIS points list and ECS events. The top 15 Eastern men/10 Eastern women from a 4 event NTSM list from Feb 8, 2008 FIS points list will be automatics.  - Also, ranking all Eastern U.S. Athletes by Old World Cup pts, scoring one less than 1/2 the total of Eastern Cup events held through Feb 15, 2008  the top 50 men & 30 women will be selected as automatics. Development Quota - 5  (An additional 25 development spots will be available for DH only.) All nominations for the development quotas must be in the Eastern office no later than Feb 19, 2008.

Page 21 - The Artech Open at Whaleback on 2/2/08 has been changed to a SL.
Page 29 – Deleted “(2 results to count)”. Selection criteria is on page 35.

Page 21 – The date of the Josh Russell Memorial SL at Pats Peak has been changed to Saturday, March 22nd.

Page 11 Reformatting plus new information:

9:00 am - Level  0 Clinic. The rules without the math. Morning only.

- Level 1 Clinic: Laura Sullivan. Ends with exam for Level 1 .T &C  certification.  All day.

- Level 2 Clinic: Jenna Ginsberg. Focus: The rules changes in the last 3 years. Morning only.

- Level 3 Clinic: Patricia Nichols from Stowe. Ends with the exam. All day.

12:00 pm - Officials’ Clinic focusing on How to present a race  worker’s clinic at your mountain. All afternoon.

12:00 pm - Officials’ Clinic: comprehensive knowledge of the rules of    ski racing.  Ends with the Ref 1 exam. Note: This clinic is intended for Alpine Officials and not to be a substitute for  the Referees’ Clinic. Coaches should attend one of the  coaches’ referee clinics.

The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Masters degree in education, have teaching and administrative experience, a working knowledge of competitive skiing and snowboarding, a vision of alternative models of instruction and curriculum, a high level of technology literacy, excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Cardigan Mountain School is seeking coaches for the Varsity level in the following sports for the 2008- 2009 school year: Basketball, Skiing, and Snowboarding. Other coaching opportunities at various levels including but not limited to the varsity level are available in Soccer, Football, Lacrosse and Baseball. The ideal candidate will have college playing experience and coaching experience at the middle/high school level or higher. Qualified candidates must be able to fill teaching vacancies in the following disciplines: Science, Math, French, PEAKS, or Spanish. Successful candidates will be required to be full time members of the faculty with teaching, coaching, and dorm responsibilities. The mission of Cardigan's athletic program is to support the School's mission in educating boys in mind, body, and spirit by promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle. The Loon Race Team is hiring alpine ski coaches for the 2008-2009 competition season for all abilities.  Loon is a competitive weekend program based at Loon Mountain, NH, that is committed to its athletes’ success in a culture that values process over results.  Applicants should have racing and/or coaching experience (FIS or Collegiate-level preferred), should be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about the sport, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to working with athletes on an individualized basis.  All applicants must hold USSA coaching credentials and should be comfortable working with technology.  Compensation will be based on experience, but the Loon Race Team is committed to valuing its staff by paying above-market rates.
