Treasurer’s Report:  Report attached. NHARA is in reasonable good shape. Four long term CDs (2, 3, and 4 years out) were purchased at 3 ½%-4%. FIS books (80) were ordered at $10 each; Jill Firstbrook needs to be reimbursed. Next year check should be arranged for from the Treasurer in advance.

Executive Secretary’s Report: Membership is moving right along. See attached report. Paid up members are posted on the website.

Committee Reports:

A.C.C.:                                   Nothing to report. Recap of the fall Eastern meetings in White River Junction. The first NHARA ACC meeting is tentatively scheduled for 12/9 or 12/13. The USSA website is now up to date with coaches' education clinics. Some of the educational CDs are now available for purchase.

Seed Review:                        The first FIS list is now on line. Emily needs club rosters ASAP (seeded racers only); needed to determine the Macomber point cut-off.  First USSA list is valid on November 15th.

Alpine Officials:                  Pre-registration is required for all clinics. All referees need to be recertified this year. The first update will be held at the Coaches Council meeting October 9th at Proctor Academy. The Sunapee clinic on November 13th will address updates also. Gunstock is willing to host a referee’s clinic some time around the beginning of December. Interested parties need to send Ted an email indicating this.

The USSA website has been updated to include the manner in which protests will be handled.

                Review/Appeal:                    No issues.

Racer Support:                    Nothing new to report. All monies were expended out in June to recipients of invitations to USST camps. Plan to buy $6000 worth of fencing. We now have enough fencing to cover the SG venue at Attitash.

Coaches Council:                Referees update at the October 19th meeting.  Coaches' Council meeting on Nov. 9th will deal with proposed structure change for BWL and other issues.

Children’s Racing:             Fall meeting was 10/6 at St. Paul’s School. Shaun Goodwin, Eastern Youth Coordinator, attended this meeting. Eastern projects were reviewed. The Elite Tech camp has been changed to 2 camps, one for Boys Dec.9-11 at Sunday River and one for Girls Dec. 12-14 at Burke. Action item passed at CRC meeting: all Children’s course setting assignments must be filled by currently certified referees. There is interest in looking at our BWL program structure to see if there is a way that more focus can be placed on racer development. This topic will be addressed at the Coaches’ Council meeting on November 9th at Holderness School.

Handbook:                             The Handbook will be ready on November 5th. Emily will deliver 1500 copies to Herta.

Banquet:                               Dinner will be at the WV Conference Center Dec. 4th – same price as last year. This price will go up 10% next year. Searches for alternative sites (Tenney; Ragged) poor results – prices quoted were higher than those at WV. We are still looking for a guest speaker. Bill Everett suggested Forest Carey as a possibility.

Web Site:                              Jack got new software this summer. It is a great website; simple, easy to use, lots
of information.  Thanks for a great job, Jack!

                Masters:                                No report.

                Adaptive:                               No report.

Industry Rep:                       The industry is in pretty good shape. There is some confusion on ski lengths, GS in particular. GS = 175 & 180 for all USSA & FIS events except for World Cup.

Ski NH Liaison:                  The general health of NH ski areas is good.

Old Business

·         Voting procedure for Coach of the Year

o        Present method of selection; (developed by Dave Edry & Kim Bownes)

§         Each coach may vote for 2 candidates, at least 1 of which is to be outside of his/her program

§         Count the votes

§         Nominee with the most votes to be announced at Nationals

o         There are some concerns that some votes may not have been counted properly. The method of selection will be discussed at the next Coaches’ Council meeting

New Business

·         Formulation of a NHARA position statement to refute the USSA adoption of FIS ski length/radius rules.

o        There was general consensus that NHARA needs to make every effort to abide by the USSA ruling. This will mean greater efforts to educate our coaches and membership regarding compliance with the adopted rules. Further clarification of the ruling may be found on the USSA website.
